Desfrán is a multi-award winning South American cannabis strain. It is a back-crossed Destroyer, itself a 3-way cross of Mexican Oaxaca, Colombian Punto Rojo and Meao Thai. A sativa-lovers dream.
Desfrán arrived in the hands of Dutch Passion courtesy of an Argentinian grower called Alberto who owns Haze magazine. It is a plant for indoor and greenhouse cultivation unless grown in a warm climate. During its vegetative period it requires little in terms of added nutrients. In soil she can grow very tall if given sufficient root space but other growing media are also suitable for it. Side-branch development is very good with Desfrán and there will be no shortage of budding sites. Once into the flowering phase she can triple in height making this an ideal plant for SCROG although SoG is also possible. Flowering takes 9 - 10 weeks after which very large yields are harvested.
This strain has an aroma of pears and green apples and tastes of caramelised pear with grape and melon notes. The buds are atypical for a sativa being very hard and dense and having the appearance of glazed pine-cones. THC production is around 20%; if harvested slightly early the effect is very cerebral and psychedelic. Leaving the plant another week or two makes it sweeter and heavier, so much so that it is a real destroyer.
